Brent Garell (@kitchenroadie)

A McMaster University graduate, Brent began his career working in banking before diving into the world of cooking.

In 2006 Brent walked away from his secure job and began pairing his collection of flavorful, easy-to-follow, calorie-conscious recipes with popular song suggestions. His goal; to write a cookbook that focused on overcoming the many obstacles we often face when it comes to healthy cooking.

It was during this time a friend suggested, he enter one of the recipes from his book in a local "secret ingredient" recipe contest. His recipe took top prize and Brent was suddenly thrown into the culinary world as he demonstrated his winning Apple Curry Chicken on a Food Network cooking stage alongside Chef Michael Olson of the Niagara Culinary Institute.

His cookbook called The Cook-a-Palooza Experience debuted shortly after with an easy-to-follow format that quickly cultivated popularity with newlyweds, college students and graduate students who are starting out in the kitchen.

Brent has been a guest on numerous TV and radio shows and has performed cooking demonstrations at many local events. He often finds himself traveling from universities to colleges, delivering his energized and interactive Cook-a-Palooza Cooking Classes using recipes from his companion cookbook The Cook-a-Palooza Experience.
